Built to Last: Material and Finish
We fabricate these gates from mild steel. This gives the gate a substantial, solid feel that is expected of a traditional estate entrance. To make sure they stand up to the British weather, every gate we fabricate is fully hot-dip galvanised. This means the steel is submerged in molten zinc to create a permanent rust-proof barrier inside and out.
After galvanising, we apply a professional powder-coated finish. This is much tougher than standard paint; it won’t flake or peel, and it keeps the gates looking clean with just an occasional wash down. It’s a “proper” finish for a gate that’s intended to stay in place for decades.
Design Details
The Wellingborough Estate Driveway Gates uses our standard heavy-duty estate framework, which consists of a solid square hollow section framework, with long horizontal round bars. To give it that traditional forge finish, we add hand-forged scrolls to each end of the gate frame. The triple arrow design is a great middle-ground—it’s more detailed than a plain bar gate but still looks clean and uncluttered once installed.
